How long has this organization been in Lake County?
100+ Women Strong in Lake County was founded in October of 2016.
Who are the participants of 100+ Women Strong?
They are you and me. We are women who believe in giving back to our community. We are business owners, professionals, stay at home moms and the like who are pressed for time, but desire to make a positive impact in Lake County. We also really like the camaraderie!
ABOUT CHARITIES
What organizations are eligible for sponsorship?
In order to be considered at a event, the organization must be located in Lake County, CA. It must be a non-profit organization recognized as a 501(c)(3) that serves Lake County.
What is a 501(c)(3)?
501(c)(3) is defined as "exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational purposes, to foster national or international amateur sports competition, promote the arts, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals." However, for the purposes of 100+ Women Strong all groups up for consideration must be local, non-religious, non-political and receive no government financial support. My charity wasn't selected at this month’s event; may I resubmit it?
If a non-profit is NOT selected it can be re-submitted indefinitely. If at any time in the future that non-profit is selected, it will be ineligible for one year.
**As a member may I submit a charity and have someone from the charity present on my behalf?
Charities will not be able to solicit on their own behalf. Members of local charities can become members of the 100+ Women Who Care if they wish to solicit on behalf of their organization.

ABOUT DONATIONS
May I donate if I leave prior to voting or if I am unable to attend the event?
Yes; if you are unable to attend or leave early– give your vote information & donation to a member to deliver on your behalf.
May I send the donation to the charity myself?
Why do you have to send it on my behalf?
We will send your donation as well as all others to the designated charity all at once. The goal of the 100+ Women Strong organization is to make a large donation on behalf of the whole group. We want to be able to support this endeavor and give $10,000+ dollars at a time to make a large impact in our community, with each member's donation being part of the larger donation. So, the collective effort is imperative in order to make a large impact.
ABOUT EVENTS
How are organizations selected?
A member who has signed the commitment form nominate the name of a local organization to be vetted. The organizers of the event will choose three local non-profits from the nominations. Prior to the event, the non-profits chosen will be contacted and asked to give a short 5 minute presentation as to why their chosen organization should receive the donation.
How long do the events last?
Events are intended to be relatively short, generally lasting about one hour. Doors open at 5:30. The event starts at 6:00pm and ends no later than 7:00pm!
How do I vote if I cannot attend the event?
This can happen in two ways:
1. You can send a blank, signed check with a trusted friend to the event. They will write in the name of the charity that is chosen and give it to the organizers on your behalf.
Or...
2. After the event is over, the organizers will send an e-mail to the members who were not able to attend letting them know which charity was selected. You can then write your check and get it to the organizers and we will send it to the charity on your behalf.
May I bring a friend to the event who is not a 100+ Women Who Care member?
Of course you can; however, in order to vote she will have to sign a commitment form. Friends are welcome to fill out a form ahead of time or sign up on the night of the event.
ABOUT MEMBERSHIPS
I would like to be a member but I can't afford a $100 donation. Is there another way for me to contribute?
We understand that in these difficult financial times it may be hard to participate in charitable giving; however, at this time we cannot offering a team option. The more women that are a part of this organization, the bigger the impact we WILL make in our community! Please download and mail the membership form via email at [email protected]
ABOUT TAXES
Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes, your contribution is tax deductible.
How do I get my tax forms?
Checks are written directly to the local organization NOT to 100+ Women Strong. Your tax forms will be sent to you directly from the organization that receives your contribution. PLEASE NOTE: Any sponsored non-profit is not allowed to create, sell or distribute a list with your contact information. They are not allowed to solicit you for further contributions. If this were to happen, the organization would no longer be considered at future events.
