100+ Women Strong of Lake County held their first meeting of 2018 at Konocti Vista Resort and Marina on Thursday February 8th. Konocti Vista Resort and Marina provided the beautifully decorated venue and appetizers plus a no host bar. There was mingling, networking, food and beverages and most importantly, three presentations by local Lake County non-profits that resulted in an award of $17,000.
100+ Women Strong is part of a worldwide coalition of similar organizations, our local Lake County Chapter was created in February 2017 and has raised more than $80,000 to date for Lake County non-profit organizations. The group consists of women from all age groups, walks of life and professions. The commitment to donate $100, four times a year to Lake County charities unites them.
The group meets once every three months in different locations around the county. Three, pre-vetted charitable organizations are invited to give brief presentations in hopes of being selected by 100+ Women Strong in Lake County. One of the three charities is selected by majority vote of the group after the presentations and receives $100 from each and every member of the 100+ Women Strong. The goal is to raise $10,000 each quarter but the total for each meeting has exceeded $15,000!
Our February 2018 presenters were SPCA of Clearlake, Shop with a Cop Program and Eric Paredes Save a Life Foundation. The Shop with a Cop Program, which originated shortly after the Valley Fire to offer children who lost everything the opportunity to spend $200 while shopping with local law enforcement at Walmart in Clearlake, was the grand prize winner of $17,000. The program has since expanded to children throughout Lake County.
“When 100+ Women Strong in Lake County gives as one it translates to making a lasting difference and positive impact one local non-profit at a time,” explained one of the groups founders Jennifer Taylor.
A huge thank you to Konocti Vista Resort and Marina for hosting our event. Their hospitality was gracious and their staff, accommodating. They ensured our meeting was seamless and all of our needs were met!
Our next meeting is Thursday May 10, 2018 at Chacewater Winery and Olive Mill located at 5625 Gaddy Ln. Kelseyville. Doors open at 6PM, meeting starts promptly at 6:30PM. First time visitors are welcome to attend meetings.

Three Charities Vie For 100 Women Strong Funds

MIDDLETOWN >> The second meeting of 100+ Women Strong in Lake County will take place at Twin Pine Casino & Hotel event center in Middletown on Thursday, May 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be mingling, networking, food and beverages and, most importantly, at the end of the night a local Lake County charity will be selected to receive a very generous donation that is made possible by the local women of Lake County.
Women wishing to join this organization are welcome to pre-register online or to register at the event.
Part of a worldwide coalition of similar organizations, the Lake County chapter was just created in 2017 as a community effort to fundraise for Lake County based non-profit organizations. The group consists of women in Lake County from all ages, walks of life and professions. What unites them is their commitment to donate $400 per year to different Lake County charities.
The group meets once every three months and three local, pre-vetted, charitable organizations are invited to give brief presentations in hopes of being selected by 100+ Women Strong. One of the three charities is selected by a majority vote of the group after the presentation and receives $100 from each and every member of 100+ Women Strong.
This quarter the group has selected Sponsoring Survivorship, Lake County Arts Council and Totes 4 Teens as the candidates to present and receive the donation.
The goal of the group is to be able to raise $10,000 each quarter for local charities. The first meeting resulted in a donation of $14,600 to Operation Tango Mike, all from local Lake County women who came out in full force to give back to the local community.
“The February 9th event far exceed our expectations,” explained one of the group’s founders, Crystal Martin. “We weren’t sure if we would meet the 100 women mark by our first meeting, but were overwhelmed when we had 146 local women register and donate.”
Martin explained that, as individuals, it is often difficult to make a significant difference.
But, she added, “as a group we have the ability to contribute to the growth of our community and make an impact in ways that we never thought possible.”
On May 11, the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for about an hour of mingling and networking while light appetizers are served along with a no-host wine and beer bar. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp and the three chosen presenters will each introduce their charity.
The membership has an opportunity to ask questions and then voting will commence. At the conclusion of the event, a winner is chosen and the winning charity then will receive a generous donation, made possible by the local women of Lake County.
